Fly like an eagle

So the other night in my dream I was swinging really high on this swing. It was so high though it was like it was hanging down from the sky, not attached to anything. There was an eagle that was flying around with me. I was zooming around and he was flying by and at one point I shouted at him because I thought he was going to eat me. But he didn't. I don't remember much else. Heres what dreammoods.com had to say about it-
To see an eagle in your dream, symbolizes nobility, pride, fierceness, freedom, superiority, courage, and powerful intellectual ability. It also represents self-renewal and your connection with your spirituality. You will struggle fiercely and courageously to realize your highest ambitions and greatest desires.

To dream that you are on a swing, suggests that you are experiencing great satisfaction and freedom in your waking life. It also symbolizes cycles and movement. Alternatively, it signifies a desire for sexual variety. To dream that you are swinging, suggests that you are going back and forth in some situation and need to make up your mind.

ok then.

The image is from the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard. It is a Tibetan eagle, with a 10 foot wingspan, shot on a search expedition.

I am absolutely in love with this house, photographed for the November issue of Country Living.

Return to Little Rock

Hello!! So we arrived in Little Rock last night, after driving through Alabama and staying near Huntsville on Saturday. We watched the Wrestler in our cushy Microtel and ate quarter pounders before bed. Then yesterday was a dreary drive through Mississippi, Memphis and we made itttt- had dinner at the Flying Saucer! I was especially excited for this trip because I organized our lodgings at the beautiful Rosemont Inn and cottages. I am typing this from the hospital, we haven't moved into our cottage yet- but last night we stayed in the beautiful St. Clair suite. Shadow and I had a cheery little yellow sleeping porch next to my Dads room, and I got to relax in the jacuzzi tub. The innkeeper Susan is amazingly sweet and welcoming, and not only are we now located in the historic district -with beautiful houses and parks all around for our daily strolls, but its only about 7 minutes from the hospital. So we can be 7 minutes late instead of 25 :) We already messed up today though because my Dad ate breakfast before his pet scan- so it is going to have to be rescheduled, but if you need more info on myeloma or the treatments available here at UAMS I will be helping my Dad get his own blog started later this week. tata for now.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

So I finally got my hair done yesterday. I guess for some reason I got over the fear and general anxiety I always have, because I was just so confidant it would look great. And of course now I'm kicking myself in the ass for spending 100$ to look like fucking Wednesday Addams.

I now have short, shiny, black hair. Oh, it will fade to your natural color he promised me, in 4 weeks. So just during all the family holidays will I look like the dark princess of night.

sigh.

Thank you Katie Holmes for modeling my before and after.

One step at a time. .

I hope tomorrow goes better than today. I just got completely overwhelmed with everything. As I explained it to my Dad- "When you can't even get little things straightened out, it just makes the bigger things seem impossible". So I'm completely exhaused in every way and only have tomorrow to relax. Wednesday is my Fantastic Mr.Fox movie date with kids extrodinaire, Thursday (stuffing thy thankful face) and Friday packing and cleaning dog hair out of the car. Then Saturday the wagon train moves westward again. .

Nandinoo

Peacocks for Christmas, please. order here.

Son Volt

So I went to see Son Volt again on Friday. It was the first time I had ever been to the Handlebar in Greenville, which is the best place to see bands around here. They had 2 bars, benches and tables outside, and a big room inside for the stage and even rows of chairs on the right side for the old folks.
Jay and the gang were great as always, the crowd was full and pumped, and they came out for an encore after a second set break. Seemed to be a more confidant show than Nashville, which was their first one out of the gate. I only saw the last song of the opener Peter Bruntnell, and it was really sweet, something about "15 minutes with you, I'd do anything" but I can't find it anywhere online. And its still stuck in my head! sigh. You can listen to more of him here.

Kathleen Edwards

I can't believe I haven't already posted about my dearest Kathleen. The talented Canadian native has toured with the likes of My Morning Jacket and put out 3 cds. I hear a 4th is in the works! I picked up one randomly at the Nashville Public Library last year and have been hooked ever since. Her show in Knoxville March 13th was just amazing- but she is taking a well deserved break now after 2 years on the road. One of my favorite things about her, besides her beautiful voice, soulful guitar and poetic, honest lyrics is her personality. She seems so fun- loves hockey and whiskey, and is just a real down to earth gal.

I haven't really been listening to much music lately. I am hardly ever here in my room because I am driving around all the time and our cd player in the car is broken. So it was great to hear my old favorite songs again tonight. You can hear some for yourself on her website.

I am going to SLEEP now and you really won't see me for a few days. I mean it. We are hightailin' it to Asheville tomorrow and then Charlotte NC. .

Other Half

I posted this dreamy bedroom previously, but then came upon another view!

Leaving the Party

So I'm going to take a little break from this blog. It's becoming counterproductive now since I stay up way too late on the computer and I really need to be sleeping more. I have been really busy but still need to focus on getting things done while I can (we go back to Arkansas in 2 weeks). I also don't want to jeapordize my content by being sleepy and just putting up something for the sake of it. There are many other amazing blogs out there, so I'll update/ expand my blog list to keep you warm while I'm away. .

Thanks to those few of you who have been reading.
See you soon.

Pema Chodron

If your everyday practice is open to all your emotions, to all the people you meet, to all the situations you encounter, without closing down, trusting that you can do that - then that will take you are far as you can go. And then you'll understand all the teachings that anyone has ever taught.

More Bedrooms

Hopefully this weekend I can find a few new things for my room. I do however have 5,000 other things to do, so I suppose its not a priority. Its clean and has a bed so I'm thankful enough just for that. But if anyone has an extra kelly green tufted bed and some zebra pillows. . you know where to find me.

Madewell

Well I had to check out Madewell cuz everyones been blogging about them. After all the hype I was pretty dissappointed. The site took forever to load and all their models were mean and slutty looking. Like, seriously. . what is that girl doing?
Aside from wearing the most amazing jacket. .
sigh.
