Window Seat

I am seriously in love with window seats. For my bedroom remodel project in Maryland I proposed one for underneath a double window (with custom bookshelves flanking it of course), but now it looks like I'll be in Little Rock with my Dad for another month at least. More time to find ideas and inspiration though right?

Yesterday while my Dad was getting his chemo at UAMS I slept on a brown cushion next to him in a small window seat. That unfortunately looked nothing like this one. But it was still waay better than a chair!

Weekend Update

Hi there! Just a few bits about whats going on since I don't really have time to search for photos or create a barrage of fabulous posts for you, on account of my much needed sleep and dreamtime. If I was a pro blogger I would have had some all set up to auto post and you wouldn't have even noticed my absence. Alas.

I will be driving my Dad to Little Rock, AR tomorrow in order for him to get back to his testing and treatments at UAMS. I really had to convince him to let me help, so I am excited! Before we head out theres a thousand things to do. I have to drop Shadow off at a friends, which will be super depressing, but I did get him a gourmet dog biscuit at a shop tonight with orange icing and sprinkles, so I'm sure he will be excited. I'm gonna have to drag his sleepy ass up into the bed with me tonight for some cuddles. There is a high probability I will be returning to SC via Greyhound, and although they are named after a dog they just plain don't let them on.

In other news I will finally have my own transportation again shortly. Then I will be unstoppable. Driving around in the acura today and last night was fabulous, even though I'm not too familiar with the area it's been amazing to be able to stop and get things when I need them- and to DRIVE- which I love, love, love. Picking up batteries at CVS has made me feel like a new woman! I also went downtown to the Fall for Greenville festival tonight- and we rocked out to JJ Grey and Mofro which was pretty great. But of course my ID had magically escaped from my wallet so I was bummed and couldn't buy beer. Story of life. Oh well, I don't really need a VA liscense anymore. I've been holding on to that thing for way too long. Time for a new state. Sorry Tennessee you didn't make the cut.

Somewhere along my travels I picked up a different laptop charger, so mine just won't juice. Its all so organized and graceful isn't it? I might not be able to post again for a weekish, but I trust you will be fine without me. Much much more to come. .

Dream Big

So last night in Charlotte at my uncles house I was sleeping in a little antique bed in the room that his daughter abandoned in favor of the bigger, more grown up room. There were discarded toys laying around and I wondered before dozing off how my surroundings would affect my dreams. Well, it wasnt fun and games. Quite the contrary I was an accessory to murder, of my good friend, in his home. I wasn't the trigger girl but I was there and I didn't stop it. I remember him laying on the floor all small and dead and feeling really, really bad. So I went to my dream shrink at dreammoods.com and it said this:

To dream that you have committed a murder, indicates that you are putting an end to an old habit and your former ways of thinking. Consider how the victim represents aspects of yourself that you want to destroy or eliminate.

So apparently your surroundings do not affect your dreams (duh) because you are asleep when you're dreaming and it's all from your subconcious. Holla at me Mr. Jung! We need to have a chiz-at.

During the trip from Reston,VA last night my dad and I were finally in the car alone together to talk, so for 6 hours we re-hashed and buried issues from the past and talked about the next steps that we both need to take. He has to kick cancers ass, and I need to move forward with my education, career, and finally begin to cultivate my talents and harness my potential. More importantly I need to become independent, and it seems the relationship I've been in for the last 2 years will need to change in order for those things to happen. Said dead friend still lives with his parents, and although he is financially independant that same house has been keeping him safe for 24 years, which is something I have never been able to experience. So I merely murdered his support structure in favor of the wild and wily woods that I now need to enter, on my own.

Marvelous Marble

Well, I love marble. Its clean and fresh and classic and elegant. Remodelista posted a collection of marble baths, so I borrowed a few photos. What do you think? The last photo is a more budget friendly version- marble tiles on the floor with plain subway tiles on the wall.

I think I quite like this wallpaper pattern. It isn't as colorful as what I was thinking for my project- but since it's a closet maybe it'd be better to be more subdued.
