Poster Girl

squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
and I'm beyond your peripheral vision
so you might want to turn your head
cause someday you're going to get hungry
and eat most of the words you just said
both my parents taught me about good will
and I have done well by their names
just the kindness I've lavished on strangers
is more than I can explain
still there's many who've turned out their porch lights
just so I would think they were not home
and hid in the dark of their windows
til I'd passed and left them alone
and god help you if you are an ugly girl
course too pretty is also your doom
cause everyone harbors a secret hatred
for the prettiest girl in the room
and god help you if you are a pheonix
and you dare to rise up from the ash
a thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy
while you are just flying past
I'm not trying to give my life meaning
by demeaning you
and I would like to state for the record
I did everything that I could do
I'm not saying that I'm a saint
I just don't want to live that way
no, I will never be a saint
but I will always say
. . . .

Fantastic

So as it turns out I am not a total dork for wanting to go see this movie. I just realized it was directed by Wes Anderson. I haven't been to the movies in AGES but I will definately be hitting the seats for this one. And maybe I can take my little cousins with me. Yay!

Nobody

Nobody knows this little Rose-
It might a pilgrim be.
Did I not take it from the ways
And lift it up to thee.
Only a Bee will miss it-
Only a Butterfly.
Hastening from far journey-
On its breast to lie-
Only a Bird will wonder-
Only a Breeze will sigh-
Ah little rose - how easy
For such as thee to die!

Rod Stewart

Well, my uncle was making fun of Rod shaking his tail feathers on Dancing with the Stars tonight. Just wanted to remind you how awesome he is. .
In case you forgot.

Not Like This

So, I put the artwork up at the hospital today. Two pieces per board. Absolutely nothing like this. .
Less is More right??

What a Hoot

I saw these owls on 2 blogs last night, and kept quiet. But someone else posted them today!! I'm glad everyone loves them- I have them too. I'll put my photo up once I get that computer workin' again.

Leaving Little Rock

This weekend we will be freed from our hospital routine! But we are scheduled back for more on December 1st. I'd love to take a vacation, get a new camera, work on projects, read good books, get my hair chopped off . .
Until then here is my favoritest photo of a Moroccan inspired bedroom from a blog I found recently-Indian Summer. I love how the bed is up on the platform, and Shadow could sleep right at my feet on that rug. The windows are probably the best part, perfect for the birds and I to sing through.

Blog Un-Love

So, I love looking at new blogs. There is a lot of cool stuff out there that I wouldn't otherwise find out about. But, I have some beef. There are some things that just make me super depressed. Like 1,000 pumpkins in a field spelling out will you marry me, and that ladys shameless photo of her 2 new books, that is really just showing off a picture of her and her cute husband. Oh, people. I am so glad you have hearts full of love and babies that you think are the most amazing creatures in the world. Or you have busy weekends hanging out with all your friends. But not everybody has that. Some of us have nothing. And maybe it is common sense that you shouldn't look at wedding blogs for 2 hours if you just got dumped, it's probably obvious that will make you want to die. So, point taken. I will turn my head aside and try to be more positive about my future. I just wish some of you gals would try to do more positive things with your blogs and for your readers, instead of just bragging about new furniture and exciting weekends away.

Last Night

(in my dream) I got kicked out of the Playboy mansion. .

I remember driving past it with my Dad- a big gray stone building, set back off the busy street in Richmond, Va. It wasn't very impressive. I could tell something was going on, so I tried to talk to Hef about keeping me around. Not sure if I got in trouble for something or what. But he didn't really even pay attention. Then I was having a conversation with the girls, the three that live there now, saying things like "I know I'm different from you guys but I want to get along" and then they just started whispering in each others ears right in front of me.

So I went to pack my stuff. This part probably comes from the anxiety I have about moving yet again and downsizing yet again and still not really having a place for anything. But anyways- there was a huge bookshelf filled with records, and I was trying to find mine and pack them up. There were all kinds of old records, with like skits and plays and I was having trouble finding mine. I remember packing up some books, because there were books everywhere, and I was thinking damn I just want to lay around here all day and read books, and go out at night. Wouldn't that be perfect? Thinking that I hadn't done that enough while I was there. My Dad was sitting there somewhere being grumpy, waiting on my slow ass while I fumbled around.

I put some things in a pile and a big gust of wind came through. Apparently one of the girls rooms was separated from mine by the bookshelf (they were both very small) and the wind went through to her side and cracked the wall underneath her window. Or knocked something into it. I don't know, but she wasn't happy. And neither was I- homeless again.

Heres what dream moods had to say: To dream that you are being evicted suggests that a present relationship or situation is making you feel helpless and powerless. You feel that you cannot fend for yourself and have a sense of not belonging. Alternatively, you believe that you are being unfairly treated. (and deserve a volvo)

Happy Halloween!!

I've already taken a few days off. . but it seems I'll need a few more. Getting images in and organized for the hospital and spending time just being myself + cooking and relaxing with Dad! This computer has been a bit schmatz lately so hopefully it can take a break too and we will have more wonderful posts here for you soon.

Love.
