cooper hewitt design museum

CLOSED!!! for reno- till 2013.

sad girl.

Felt on display

found a slide show on artists using felt over at the ny times -

Felt’s history began 8,000 years ago, before the earliest forms of weaving. Created from animal wool, soap and water and mashed into pulp, felt is then dried and made into everything from caps to rugs and capes to yurts.

chairs

who designed these chairs? and why dont i have any? all the rage in europe- all over emmas designblogg. with wood or metal bottoms. neat.

see ya summer!

hello fall!! this summer was, needless to say, ridiculous. so much turmoil and frustration and disappointment. i found the only thing to do was read, and try to move through the cycle- which always has a light at the end of the tunnel somewhere (if you are able to see it/ don't give up by then). luckily the last new moon brought me all the new things in my life i was waiting for. everyone has to have the shit kicked out of them to appreciate the important things i suppose. i feel stronger and have a more clear picture of my future now. every day things seem to be getting better!

and im excited about fall! trips to the mountains, bonfires, football (yes, somehow), sweaters, hot apple cider, and my car not breaking down so much.
this is gonna be good..

Solitude

i am coming for you.

When from our better selves we have too long been parted by the hurrying world, and droop. Sick of its business, of its pleasures tired, how gracious, how benign in solitude. William Wordsworth

Violent passions are formed in solitude. In the busy world no object has time to make a deep impression. Henry Home

Our language has wisely sensed the two sides of being alone. It has created the word loneliness to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word solitude to express the glory of being alone. Paul Tillich

A poet is a nightingale, who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds. Percy Bysshe Shelley

No More Buggin.

(listen)

I Want You

Mountain

this mountain
is a shroud

a bear sleeping
a cry in the wind
that becomes the wind
and came from the wind

(yet the wind blows it away)

it is speckled with fresh water splashing
feel it cool on your hands

KITTEN!

Rumi

Suddenly the drunken sweetheart appeared out of my door.
She drank a cup of ruby wine and sat by my side.
Seeing and holding the lockets of her hair
My face became all eyes, and my eyes all hands.
