And The Hippoes..
Currently reading the first book written by Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs, although not by any means the first to hit shelves. The collaborative approach (they alternated chapters/ character points of view) and sensational storyline (based on the murder of/ by a mutual friend) was finally published in 2005. Even the book jacket frustrated me by giving so much information about the plot, and all the blogs that have reviewed this book were not favorable. I however, have been immensely enjoying it. Thus, will refrain from ruining all the fun for you, should you be tempted to check it out.
excerpt from page 20
Janie and I went upstairs and took a shower together. Then we sat down in the front room to talk. I was sitting on the rocking chair facing her and she was sitting on the couch with a towel on, native style. I kept staring at the towel and finally it began to annoy me, so I got up and pulled the towel off her and went back to the rocking chair.
She said, "What are you going to do out at sea?" and I said, "Don't worry about the future."
hmpf.
Shout out!
to my new and cherished friend Kat, a fantastic woman with great energy + all the smarts and beauty a girl could be blessed with. Check out her website Earthpicked Healing, for inspiration and spiritual guidance.
I was thinking about robins eggs yesterday and how beautiful and fragile they are, and if you like flowers as much as I do, you may be intrigued with Sandhollow Iris Gardens, where they have an amazing array of different Iris breeds.
Without further ado, friendship quotes for my friends!
She is a friend of mind. She gather me, man. The pieces I am, she gather them and give them back to me in all the right order. It's good, you know, when you got a woman who is a friend of your mind. Toni Morrison
Men kick friendship around like a football, but it doesn't seem to crack. Women treat it like glass and it goes to pieces.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
When a friend is in trouble, don't annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it. Edward W. Howe
But friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine. Thomas Jefferson
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. Albert Schweitzer
Tubs
I've had these photos on my desktop for eons now, so with all this spiritual rehabilitation I'm doing lately, thought a lovely place for that would be a hot, bubbly clawfoot tub. check out my grossly accurate horoscope for the day:
General: Emotional energies are strong and upbeat, and all you have to do go with the flow. Foundations laid today will be firm and supportive and continue to evolve that way. Feelings of friendship abound and it's easy to see the good side of anyone, just remember there may be other sides, too.
Love: Withdrawing from emotional social contact is favored now, for even when you are with others you are likely to feel separate and alone. Sadness and disappointments in your personal life are also probable now. It is a time to be quiet and to look objectively at how your relationships are going. Though not a pleasurable time, this can be a beneficial period in which to learn more about love and what you truly value.
Work: You love to see yourself in the spotlight at every possible occasion but forget that your associates may suffer as a consequence. You run the risk of permanently building up resentment from your colleagues. Try to meet others with the same amount of appreciation you would like to be approached with yourself.
ahh, so true. these times they are a'changing.. as they say.

Woot
The Nude Swim
On the southwest side of Capri
we found a little unknown grotto
where no people were and we
entered it completely
and let our bodies lose all
their loneliness.
All the fish in us
had escaped for a minute.
The real fish did not mind.
We did not disturb their personal life.
We calmly trailed over them
and under them, shedding
air bubbles, little white
balloons that drifted up
into the sun by the boat
where the Italian boatman slept
with his hat over his face.
Water so clear you could
read a book through it.
Water so buoyant you could
float on your elbow.
I lay on it as on a divan.
I lay on it just like
Matisse's Red Odalisque.
Water was my strange flower,
one must picture a woman
without a toga or a scarf
on a couch as deep as a tomb.
The walls of that grotto
were everycolor blue and
you said, "Look! Your eyes
are seacolor. Look! Your eyes
are skycolor." And my eyes
shut down as if they were
suddenly ashamed.
-Anne Sexton
i started singing this song randomly yesterday. so pretty..
