Black Star

Well. I saw this picture and figured it summed up how I was feeling. But a bit more glamorous, and I dont have any balloons. You get the idea right? Took a whirlwind trip to VA yesterday to pick up "my" 4runner, and got to stop in Richmond and see some of my old peeps and streets. It was great, but now that I'm back here it just hurts. When I lived in Richmond I never wanted to run away every second like I do now. But then I realized it doesn't matter where I am I still have no purpose. so thats depressing.

More of my family arrived last night, which I thought would help me feel more cheerful. They went out downtown to lunch today at some fusion resturaunt they were raving about, but decided to just let me sit here in my pajamas all day. Phone never rang. Cool guys. Tracked em down at my aunts and ate pizza, forced myself to drink some red wine, and then drove home about 10:30 in the sleet. to put my pajamas back on.

Merry Christmas Eve

So heres Shadow in his favorite position- sprawled out on the floor. It's hard to get a picture of him awake, as he probably sleeps about 78% of the day. Today however was quite busy- he got to run around with my aunts pup, Rosie, wear his hat, lay on the floor behind me while I made pecan sandies and say hi to the guinea pigs. And by hi I mean stick his nose to the cage and not move until he just has to jump up on the side of it. When they chirp he totally freaks out. My aunt does not think his infatuation so adorable, but I'm about 89% sure he's not going to eat them. Now he's being a good blogger dog, just sitting beside me.
So there. Cookies got made and presents got bought (last night) and I even wrapped a few. Not enough singing but thats something to work on in the new year. We are having a family cocktail party now- giant shrimps and the other kind too. Wishing everyone who may read this a wonderful evening with friends or family and a happy delicious morning!!

Feeling Christmassy??

Ahhhh. Needles to say I'm not ready. We got back to Greenville on Saturday night after driving all day (way to go Dad) and I at least got my clothes unpacked yesterday. But I haven't gotten any presents bought, wrapped, baked anything, gotten crafty etc etc. Christmas decorations just arent things you shove in your pack when you depart from your dwelling in September, and my aunt gets mad if we leave the lights on or turn up the heat so I'm fairly positive a glue gun mess of shit wouldn't ring her bell. I did get my Nanas 90th birthday party invitations assembled and adressed and sent yesterday so I guess that was the most important thing. I miss being in choir and singing Christmas songs for 2 months beforehand, running around in the snow with my bro, making cookies with my mom. sigh. Heres to today and tomorrow being productive and full on fucking cheerful.

Blogger Cats

I had wanted to conglomerate a post of bloggers cats one night when I was missing mine, so heres 3 to start. The first pic is from Indian Summer, the second cat is from My Funny Eye and the third cat belongs to the blogger from At Home At Home. meow.

Still Going. .

Hey there, how are you?? Sorry I haven't had time or wireless or a computer to post with recently. Just been cooking and hanging out with Dad and Shadow, and of course going to UAMS everyday. Got a few errands to run now, just wanted to pop in and say that my Dad and I are still plugging along.

Fly like an eagle

So the other night in my dream I was swinging really high on this swing. It was so high though it was like it was hanging down from the sky, not attached to anything. There was an eagle that was flying around with me. I was zooming around and he was flying by and at one point I shouted at him because I thought he was going to eat me. But he didn't. I don't remember much else. Heres what dreammoods.com had to say about it-
To see an eagle in your dream, symbolizes nobility, pride, fierceness, freedom, superiority, courage, and powerful intellectual ability. It also represents self-renewal and your connection with your spirituality. You will struggle fiercely and courageously to realize your highest ambitions and greatest desires.

To dream that you are on a swing, suggests that you are experiencing great satisfaction and freedom in your waking life. It also symbolizes cycles and movement. Alternatively, it signifies a desire for sexual variety. To dream that you are swinging, suggests that you are going back and forth in some situation and need to make up your mind.

ok then.

The image is from the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard. It is a Tibetan eagle, with a 10 foot wingspan, shot on a search expedition.

Country Living

I am absolutely in love with this house, photographed for the November issue of Country Living.

Return to Little Rock

Hello!! So we arrived in Little Rock last night, after driving through Alabama and staying near Huntsville on Saturday. We watched the Wrestler in our cushy Microtel and ate quarter pounders before bed. Then yesterday was a dreary drive through Mississippi, Memphis and we made itttt- had dinner at the Flying Saucer! I was especially excited for this trip because I organized our lodgings at the beautiful Rosemont Inn and cottages. I am typing this from the hospital, we haven't moved into our cottage yet- but last night we stayed in the beautiful St. Clair suite. Shadow and I had a cheery little yellow sleeping porch next to my Dads room, and I got to relax in the jacuzzi tub. The innkeeper Susan is amazingly sweet and welcoming, and not only are we now located in the historic district -with beautiful houses and parks all around for our daily strolls, but its only about 7 minutes from the hospital. So we can be 7 minutes late instead of 25 :) We already messed up today though because my Dad ate breakfast before his pet scan- so it is going to have to be rescheduled, but if you need more info on myeloma or the treatments available here at UAMS I will be helping my Dad get his own blog started later this week. tata for now.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

So I finally got my hair done yesterday. I guess for some reason I got over the fear and general anxiety I always have, because I was just so confidant it would look great. And of course now I'm kicking myself in the ass for spending 100$ to look like fucking Wednesday Addams.

I now have short, shiny, black hair. Oh, it will fade to your natural color he promised me, in 4 weeks. So just during all the family holidays will I look like the dark princess of night.

sigh.

Thank you Katie Holmes for modeling my before and after.

One step at a time. .

I hope tomorrow goes better than today. I just got completely overwhelmed with everything. As I explained it to my Dad- "When you can't even get little things straightened out, it just makes the bigger things seem impossible". So I'm completely exhaused in every way and only have tomorrow to relax. Wednesday is my Fantastic Mr.Fox movie date with kids extrodinaire, Thursday (stuffing thy thankful face) and Friday packing and cleaning dog hair out of the car. Then Saturday the wagon train moves westward again. .
